Urban Portraits
A new approach to individual and group photography
has come about over the last few years, which uses new
production techniques to modernize finished images.
Pop art, solarisation, action shots and abstract camera
angles where the subject is not front and centre have
caused us all to reconsider what makes the ideal portrait.
Photographer Jon Keeling is among those leading the
charge as he ditches the studio for more unusual settings
for his portrait work.
He believes that good portrait photography is as much
about the whole experience as the end result. All of Jon’s
customers are consulted about the reason for the shoot
and the kind of finish they are hoping for. Then they are
all given a genuine ‘model day’, with time invested into
preparing and pampering them so they are relaxed
and natural.
Jon has chosen locations as diverse as derelict buildings
and caves for his portrait shoots. The results are striking but
sincere, bringing the subject’s personality to the fore, in the
most complimentary way possible.
